One of our clients became aware of an issue with its shipment of large round mirrors from China - the mirror's edge banding had become unstuck in areas, most likely during shipment. The MCR Services team were tasked with undertaking a quality inspection audit of 110 mirrors, pulling out those with loose edge banding to one side for rework purposes.
SolutionUsing a hot air gun, the team re-bonded the adhesive, pressing the edge banding by hand and then keeping it in place with masking tape. To ensure the edge banding would remain bonded, all reworked mirrors were left out of the boxes for a few hours before removing the masking tape. The team then repackaged the mirrors, palletised them and arranged a delivery of the stock back to the client's warehouse facility.
